The Supreme Court has refused to hear the demand for making rules to ensure the quality of the Prasad distributed in temples. The bench headed by Justice BR Gavai has said that it is not the job of the court to decide this. There is already a provision regarding this in the Food Safety Act. People can use it if they want. On behalf of the petitioner named Preeti Harihar Mahapatra, it was said that Prasad is being distributed in temples across the country without any proper investigation. This needs to be regularised. The controversy over Tirupati Laddu Prasad was also cited in the petition. The Supreme Court has already ordered an investigation into that matter.
